Biography

Joe Molder has been actively engaged in educational management and administration of programs ranging from pre-school through college. Most notably he headed a secondary school that was within a single vote of closing to marked success. He strengthened the faculty and student body. He increased the endowment many fold to become one of the top per student endowments of independent secondary schools. This made possible sizeable increases in financial aid and faculty salaries. He developed joint programs with RPI (recent winner of a NAIS national award), the Manhattan School of Music, and exchange programs in Jordan, Australia, and South Africa. He built a library and science center that won a National Design Award for 1988 from the American Institute of Architects. The work of High/Scope with which he has been closely associated has generally been recognized as the leader in researching and promoting the importance of quality pre-school education in improving the life chances of children from low-income families.
