Transportation

A few airports serve the states of New York (JFK and LGA), New Jersey (EWR) and Connecticut (BDL, HVN). Connection times vary between 1 and 3 hours depending on traffic and waiting time.

Times to New Haven:
JFK (JFK) and Laguardia (LGA) (in New York): ~ -3-4 hours
Newark (EWR) (New Jersey): ~3-4 hours
Bradley, Hartford/Springfield (BDL) (Connecticut): ~ 1-2 hours
Tweed, New Haven (HVN) (Connecticut): ~20-30 minutes

International travelers will probably use JFK, PHL, or EWR.

For all travelers, best public transportation connections are from JFK and LGA.

An alternative is to use Philadelphia (PHL) and get a connecting flight to New Haven (HVN). PHL has the benefit that it is the single airport that serves Tweed New Haven airport (HVN). Hartford/Springfield (BDL) is closer than the New York airports, but might entail renting a car (the public transportation links are weaker).
