Reading Difficulty and Reading Disability

Ldonline.org is a general learning disability site that has been highly recommended by ERS Fellow Dr. Margie Gillis. It truly contains a wealth of information for educators and parents. A dedicated section for reading has viewable and downloadable summary articles about preventing and remediating reading difficulty. You will also find sections for writing disability and speech-language issues.

The Greenwood Institute of the Greenwood School in Vermont hosts a resource site for dyslexia, learning disabilities and literacy. Featured among these resources is an annotated bibiography of research on reading acquisition and reading disability compiled by Dr. Susan Brady of University of Rhode Island, Haskins Laboratories and the Early Reading Success Initiative.

Another general resource site for learning disabilities can be found at ldresources.com. There is a section dedicated to reading and writing disabilities. This site has a clear emphasis on technology and assistive tools.

Readingrockets.org is the on-line branch of a multimedia effort to disseminate research-based information on promoting reading at home, teaching reading and helping young, struggling readers.
