literacy resources are available on the US
Department of Education website. FREE

of resources that have been created with federal support. There is also
has a way to locate and request DOE
publications. Many items can be downloaded and hardcopies of most
can be ordered free of charge (single copies, up to 5 titles per order)
right there online. The Department also maintains a list of Language
Arts Links. For resources not developed by DOE, try searching the
web with on GEM (Gateway to Educational
Materials), a searchable database supported by DOE to aid in the dissemination
of classroom ideas and other learning resources. GEM provides a more precise
search for educational resources than you will get with a general search
engine.
