FLYING TO NEW HAVEN

There are few connections to New Haven's tiny Tweed airport, although it is convenient. If you are arriving there, take a taxi into town; it is only a few miles.

Otherwise, you will most likely be flying to Hartford/Springfield (Bradley airport). From there, you can take the Connecticut Limo to New Haven. You'll have to make a reservation at the Ground Transportation desk upon arrival. The waiting time may be 1 hour or more. The trip to New Haven can take up to 2hours and costs $84 (round-trip). You may prefer to rent a car instead. It is an easy drive on I-91 South to New Haven.

If you are flying to New York (Kennedy, La Guardia, or Newark airports), and you are not renting a car, you could again take the Connecticut Limo, but the trip can take up to 4 hours and costs $130 (round-trip) from Kennedy/La Guardia and $176 from Newark. Moreover, the ride can be uncomfortable, due to poor car suspension and insane drivers. A cheaper alternative is to take the airport bus to Manhattan (Grand Central Station) and from there the train (Metro North) to New Haven. If you rent a car instead, you drive from JFK to New Haven via the Van Wyck Expressway, Whitestone Bridge, and I-95 (2-3 hours, depending on traffic).

If you arrive by Limo in New Haven, take a taxi to your hotel. Unfortunately, taxis are sometimes in short supply at the Limo terminal. Good luck!

TAKING THE TRAIN TO NEW HAVEN

Metro North trains to New Haven go about every hour, more often during rush hours. You'll arrive at the Union Station. From there, take a taxi to your hotel; it will cost only a few dollars. If you arrive during daylight hours and prefer to walk, turn right from the station and walk for about 5 minutes until you find yourself on State Street. From there, turn left onto George Street for the New Haven Hotel or, two blocks later, onto Chapel Street for the Omni, Duncan, or Study Hotels, which you'll reach in another 5-10 minutes.
