| Abstract | Multichannel EMG recordings were obtained from the intrinsic laryngeal muscles of four American English speakers for three different types of vocal attack: breathy, soft, and hard. The data were processed by a digital computer to obtain an average indication of overall muscle activity. The results indicate that the three different types of vocal attack are characterized by
coordinated actions of the abductor and adductor muscles of the larynx, and further, that these muscles work in reciprocal fashion for each type of attack. |
