| Abstract | Laryngeal muscle activity during fluent & stuttered utterances was investigated using multichannel electromyography. Analysis revealed that stuttering was accompanied by high levels of laryngeal muscle activity & disruption of the normal reciprocity between abductor & abductor forces. Results demonstrated the existence of a laryngeal component in stuttering & showed a strong correlation between abnormal laryngeal muscle activity & perceived moments of stuttering. |
