| Abstract | Tested 2 predictions of a hypothesis by P. N. Kugler and M. T. Turvey (1987) extending the concept of adiabatic transformation to systems that are dissipative and transformed rapidly by internal sources of energy, such as biological movement systems. The 1st prediction is that a relation should be obtained in frequency-energy coordinates that has constant slope and an energy intercept <0. The 2nd prediction is that the expected relation in frequency-energy coordinates can be satisfied by any 1 of 3 relations in period-amplitude coordinates. Four experiments with 3 males gave varied evidence for the predictions. |
