Abstract Many studies have examined correlates of metrical prominence or “stress.” A remarkable observation, evident across the studies, is that most variables that have been and imaginably could be examined show systematic change under stress variation. The following is a brief survey of acoustic and articulatory measures that have been found to index stress.
