J'ai été stupéfait par la nouvelle que vous êtes la première à m'annoncer. Je connaissais bien Leigh pour qui j'avais une grande admiration et à qui je vouais une réelle amitié. Il avait séjourné à Aix et avait mené des recherches fort intéressantes dans mon laboratoire, il avait assisté aussi au congrès international de Phonétique que j'avais organisé à Aix en 1992. Je l'avais revu à Philadelphie lors d'un symposium ICSLP; nous avions été invités chez lui, où j'avais eu le plaisir de rencontrer d'autres chercheurs des Haskins Lab. C'était un homme d'une rare délicatesse et d'une grande finesse. Je suis vraiment profondément ému par cette disparition qui laissera un grand vide.

I was stupefied by the news that I just learned. I knew Leigh Lisker well and had a great admiration for him as well as a real friendship with him. He visited Aix and carried out extremely interesting research in my laboratory. He attended the International Congress of Phonetics that I organized in Aix in 1992. I saw him again in Philadelphia for the ICSLP symposium and we were invited to his house where I had the pleasure of meeting other scientists from Haskins Lab. He was a man of rare délicatesse and great finesse. I am truly deeply moved by his parting which will leave a great emptiness.
